Application Procedure for Apprenticeship

The Sacramento Area Electrical Apprenticeship will be open for application Monday through Thursday, between the hours of 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM.

 Please bring all documentation required for the application process.

 
 

 

Inside Wireman ( Electrician )

 
 HOURLY WAGE RATE ~ As provided in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Earn while you learn !
 

AGE ~ Applicants must be 18 years of age, providing CA Driver License or other ID document of proof.

 

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TRADE ~ Apprentices will typically be under the supervision of a Journeyman Inside Wireman at all times. The trade requires physical effort on the part of the apprentice which may include but not limited to climbing, crawling, crouching, and working in cramped quarters.  Mechanical ability and dexterity is essential.  Work may be performed either indoors or outdoors, in new and old construction.
 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a High School Graduate with a diploma, or the equivalent G.E.D. Proof of diploma or G.E.D must be presented in English when filing application.
  • Must have a valid CA Driver License at time of indenture, or other proof of age.
  • Must attend classes as required by the Local Apprenticeship Committee.
  • Must abide by standards adopted by the Local Apprenticeship Committee.
  • Must submit to Screening for Substance Abuse and Skills Assessment.
  • One year of High School Algebra or higher educational level with a "C" or better. Sealed official transcripts required.
  • Ability to distinguish colors
APPLICATIONS ~ Proof of High School Diploma or equivalent, transcripts and identification must be shown at the time of application. Applications must be filled out by the applicant in person. Applications may not be taken off the premises. (No Exceptions.)
 

SCOPE ~ During the five-year term of the Apprenticeship Agreement, the Inside Wireman Apprentice must participate in both supplemental training consisting of approximately 800 classroom hours and 8000 on-the-job training hours in order to achieve Journeyman status, through exposure to Construction, Safety, AC/DC Theory, Motor Controls, Electronics, Codeology, Process Controls, Conduit Bending, Fire/Burglar, Security/CCTV, Access Control, Telephone/Computer Data Cabling and Electronic Systems Integration.

 

 

Sound and Communication Apprenticeship

AGE ~ Applicants must be 18 years of age, providing CA Driver License or other ID document of proof.

 

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TRADE ~ Apprentice will typically be under the supervision of a Communication and Systems Installation Supervisor at all times. The trade requires physical effort on the part of the apprentice to do climbing, crawling, crouching and working in cramped quarters. Mechanical ability and finger dexterity is essential. Work may be performed either indoors or outdoors, in new and old construction environments.
 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a High School Graduate with a diploma, or the equivalent G.E.D. Proof of diploma or G.E.D must be presented in English when filing application.
  • Must have a valid CA Driver License at time of indenture, or other proof of age.
  • Must attend classes as required by the Local and Northern CA/Northern NV S&C Apprenticeship Committee(s).
  • Must abide by standards adopted by Local and Northern CA/Northern NV S&C Apprenticeship Committee(s).
  • Must submit to Screening for Substance Abuse and Skills Assessment.
  • Ability to distinguish colors
APPLICATIONS ~ Proof of High School Diploma or equivalent and identification must be shown at the time of application. Applications must be filled out by the applicant in person. Applications may not be taken off the premises. (No Exceptions.)
 

SCOPE ~ During the three-year term of the Apprenticeship Agreement, the S&C Apprentice must participate in both supplemental training consisting of approximately 480 classroom hours and 6000 on-the-job training hours in order to achieve Installer status, through exposure to Construction, Installation/Cabling; servicing/maintaining Sound, Pro-Audio/Video, Fire/Burglar, Security/CCTV, Access Control, Telephone/Computer Data Cabling and Electronic Systems Integration.
